EPA Nomination for the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna

01/08/2017

The European Parking Association (EPA) awards the European Parking Award every two years to car parks which are outstanding on a European scale. In 2017, the car park “Am MuseumsQuartier” in Vienna was nominated in the "Best Renovation" category.

Since January 2000 CONTIPARK has been both the owner and operator of the centrally located car park. It is located directly under the MuseumsQuartier Wien, one of the ten largest cultural centers in the world. With 980 parking spaces and a perfect location in the center of Vienna, the MuseumsQuartier is an ideal starting point for tourists and shopping enthusiasts.

Due to the long-term intensive use, in particular by penetrating de-icing salts, building damage developed, a costly renovation was necessary. In two years of work - during ongoing operation – for a total cost of around 6 million euros, the garage was   generally renovated and comprehensively modernized. Now the building offers the highest parking comfort at unbeatable low prices. In practice, this meant repairing all concrete ceilings, walls, columns, floors, ramps and staircases, renovating all technical installations (ventilation, fire alarm, CO warning), new lighting concept with environmentally friendly and modern LED lighting, open and transparent parking area design, State-of-the-art parking facilities, optimization and numbering of parking spaces and clear signs. Rolling doors at entrances and exits as well as door readers increase safety.

The extensive renovation work has paid off: CONTIPARK has made it into the TOP 3 car parks in the "Best Renovation" category with the MuseumsQuartier. We keep our fingers crossed for an award.
